Hi,
Who am I
Almost 50 years old autodidact french with mecanics and electronics school background.
20 years in one sentence : Has been in music industry, video game industry (3d animator), startup 3d animated characters (cantoche.com) , web applications development, mobile development ( w6developpement.com ) and now 3d printing development.
Smartfriendz is an entity designing educational hardware kits useful for everyday's life.
The main goal of Smartfriendz is to try to bring a maximum of persons to DIY and repair yourself instead of just let them consume and consume again . Also, the money won by selling kits or doing crowd funding campaigns is used to design new things, make good documentation in may languages and support as much as I can new builders and reprap users. I know this vision can look like a complete utopia but ... look at the software world. What would it be now without those crazy open source guys doing great software for free ? You would pay $500 for your operating system, $50 for each silly little game and the same for any unzip software. Le'ts believe we can keep the good work and make everybody know you can have a decent , reproducible, easy to assemble 3d printer for under $400. Even if all those startups trying to make it between $1000 and $3000.
The first project designed is the Smartrap_mini . It will be my base for the selling 3d printers kits, so it will be updated regularly and supported.
In my list for next projects , there's a printable open source robotic hoover , grass mower, coffee machine ??? (yes yes :) and all kind of everyday machines which should be open source and printable already!
I'm actually also working thinking hard on an Android controller working with actual electronics.
