Printed Parts
The STL files to make the printer can be found at:
Stepper Motors
The Prusa i3a uses (including the Extruder), Five NEMA17 Stepper Motors:
- Two of these Motors (the Z-Axis motors), are connected to the same Stepper Driver of the Electronics
- If using Wade's Geared Extruder, it's Stepper Motor needs a minimum Holding Torque of 40Ncm (0.4Nm)
More information can be found on the Stepper Motor page.
Controller Electronics
Just about any RepRap Controller will work for the Prusa i3xl.
Requirements:
- Four Stepper Drivers
- One Thermistor Input and one Heater Output for the Extruder
For comparisons, see List of electronics, Comparison of Electronics and Alternative Electronics.
Extruder
For the Prusa i3x
It's a Greg's-Wade's extruder with toothed gears and a pre-formed slot for a groove/JHead hotend. The extruder parts available from the Prusa i3 repository are mostly compatible.
Compatible hotends:
DIY Tech Shop Crayon tip hotend -- They don't make this one either anymore.
- Note: The Budaschnozzle doesn't mate very well with the Gregs-Wade's extruder body.
All Jhead compatible hotends...
